THE MILKSHAKE BOOM shake off our post Thanksgiving turkey comas and strap on our roller blades  so we can hack the planet with Jose's movie pick: 'Hackers'!

This futuristic 1995 cyberpunk film, directed by Iain Softley, stars Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina Jolie, Fisher Stevens, Matthew Lillard, and Lorraine Bracco!

THE MILKSHAKE BOOM is back this week with a listener request!

Ross Brown (a.k.a. @BossCaptainRoss on Twitter) has selected 1989's 'Tango & Cash' which stars Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell in the title roles!

This is possibly the first, only, and best action/comedy/buddy cop/framed for murder/prison break/bromance/revenge flick ever made!

Okay, let's do this!

THE MILKSHAKE BOOM are back just in time to wrap up our spectacularly spooky Halloween themed month of episodes with 1995's 'The Mangler'!

This film, directed by master of horror Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and based on the short story by Stephen King, stars Robert Englund (Nightmare on Elm Street), Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs), and a giant immobile homicidal demon possessed laundry folding machine from hell!

With a distinguished horror pedigree and completely plausible premise like that, how can this film go wrong?!

THE MILKSHAKE BOOM is back with the second entry into our Spooky Halloween Spectacular Extravaganza 2017!

This week we're talking about Robin's pick: a British supernatural horror film from 2012 called 'The Woman in Black'!

Based on the horror novella and long running play of the same name, this Hammer produced film stars a dapper, yet depressed Daniel Radcliffe and is directed by James Watkins!

Plus, we discuss Erin's controversial (and convincing) theory on the true ending of this movie!

THE MILKSHAKE BOOM is back on this fine Friday the 13th, so we thought what better scary movie to discuss than...'Maniac Cop 2'!?

This 1990 action horror film written by Larry Cohen and directed by William Lustig stars Robert Davi, Claudia Christian, Laurene Landon, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Z'Dar as the maniac cop Matt Cordell!

And be sure to stay until the end credits of this movie or else you'll miss out on the pure genius that is the 'Maniac Cop 2 Rap'!

Oct 6, 2017

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM awake from a year's worth of cryogenic sleep to find ourselves in the very Alien-esque universe of 'Outland'!

This 1981 science fiction western, directed by Peter Hyams, stars Sean Connery and we should probably say this up front: if you're looking for face hugging creatures or chest bursting aliens, then you're outta luck.

But if you're in the mood for a working class story about the rampant drug abuse of overworked titanium miners, corporate greed, corrupt middle managers, and people exploding like overstuffed hotdogs in a microwave then this just might be the film for you!

On a very special episode of THE MILKSHAKE BOOM...we time travel all the way back to 1986 to relive the events of 'Peggy Sue Got Married'!

This fantasy/drama, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, stars Kathleen Turner, Nicolas Cage, Helen Hunt, and Jim Carrey!

This episode is packed with TMB goodness: We talk about the new Stephen King 'IT' movie, some of our other favorite time travel movies, and we get philosophical about whether we'd go back in time and change events in our own lifetime.

Also, Robin cries, Erin eats loudly, Christine is scared of clowns, and Robert inadvertently debuts a new persona dubbed by Jose as 'Hipster Robert'.

THE MILKSHAKE BOOM is back this week in our self-driving cars on our way to the seedy underbelly of late '70 Los Angeles with 'The Nice Guys'!

We trip through the convoluted plot of this 2016 neo-noir film, directed by Shane Black and starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, which involves the most vile, exploitive and disgusting industry on the planet...that's right this movie is a scathing indictment of those colluding fat cats in the Detroit automotive industry!  Oh, also the porn industry is mentioned a couple of times too!

Be sure to visit THE MILKSHAKE BOOM website, Facebook, or find us on Twitter! Also subscribe on ITunes because even though Nixon may have been a crook, you don't have to be! Leave us a review!

Aug 25, 2017

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM take a trip to the therapist to work through our issues with 1989's 'Vampire's Kiss'!

This bizarrely dark comedy, directed by Robert Bierman, nearly defies description, but we can say that it does star Nicholas Cage at the peak of his Cage-y powers!

Christine is back this episode, and Robin's sister Erin stops by to weigh in with her amazing theory on what really is going on in this film!

I would tell you more, but I seem to have misfiled my notes....

Be sure to visit THE MILKSHAKE BOOM website, Facebook, or find us on Twitter! Also subscribe on ITunes and leave a review before it's too late! Too late! Too late!

Aug 11, 2017

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM are blackmailed by the F.B.I. to infiltrate the plot of the explosively violent 'Stone Cold'!

This 1991 film, directed by Craig R. Baxley, stars ex-football player turned mullet model Brian "The Boz" Bosworth in his debut performance as the rogue-ish Alabama cop 'Joe Huff'.

Joe's mission is to infiltrate a Mississippi biker gang lead by 'Chains Cooper', played by character actor Lance Henriksen, before Chains and his crew can storm the state capital to free one of their own while also assassinating a major political candidate 'cracking the whip' on biker gangs in the process.

Does Joe fail miserably at his job like no protagonist has ever failed before?  Is he the worst cop in MILKSHAKE BOOM history?!  Tune in to find out!

Also, be sure to subscribe on ITunes and leave a review!  And remember, "God forgives, but THE MILKSHAKE BOOM doesn't!"

Jul 27, 2017

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM hop in the pick-up truck, flip on the radio and keep it moving into the deep dark abyss that is 'Southbound'! This 2015 horror anthology film is Robin's pick and is directed by Radio Silence, Roxanne Benjamin, David Bruckner, and Patrick Horvath!

We also talk about other anthology movies, functional illiteracy, and Amazon drones that serve you court papers!

Speaking of which, I'm required to tell you that this episode was not brought to you by the fine folks from Amazon Prime! Furthermore, the views and opinions expressed by THE MILKSHAKE BOOM do not necessarily reflect those of any of our potential listeners; especially 'Wonder Woman' actor and all around superstar Chris Pine.

Jul 13, 2017

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM are forced to clear our good names by taking a roomful of innocent people hostage and making them watch Jose's pick: 'The Negotiator'!

This 1998 film, directed by F. Gary Gray, stars Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey as two maverick hostage negotiators taking on a deeply entrenched conspiracy involving murder, mayhem, and most importantly -- the pension fund!

Jun 29, 2017

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM emerge from the dank, gas-filled sewers of NYC to bring your our above ground discussion on the even danker C.H.U.D.!  This 1984 sci-fi horror film stars Daniel Stern and John Heard and is directed by Douglas Cheek!

Now you're probably asking yourself, 'Self, what does C.H.U.D. even stand for? Could it be Cherubic Hungry Udder Drinkers?  Or perhaps Cranky Hungover Uber Drivers?'

Good guesses, but no!  This movie is all about Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers, my friend, and boy howdy does it got a lot of 'em!  Yes, I would have also accepted Contamination Hazard Urban Disposal, but c'mon that's just boring!

This cinematic selection comes courtesy of our listener Kevin!  So, if you have a movie suggestion, be sure to let us know and we just might work your film into our regular rotation!  Also, like us on Facebook and subscribe and leave a review on ITunes if you'd be so kind!

It's time...for a new episode of THE MILKSHAKE BOOM!

This week grab your rocket launcher, exploding suitcase, and your baby armadillo because we are taking our airboats all the way down river to 'Invasion U.S.A.', cowboy!

This explosive 1985 Chuck Norris flick, directed by Joseph Zito and produced by Cannon Films, is the pinnacle of low budget '80s movie excess!

In fact, excess might be an understatement.  Here's a good rule of thumb:  If it appears on screen, there's a good chance it'll probably explode.  Car?  Explode!  A shopping mall?  Explode!  An ENTIRE SUBURB...during Christmas time?!?  EXPLODE!!

Jun 1, 2017

The stars have aligned and THE MILKSHAKE BOOM have returned!

This week we catch you up on why we're back, what we've been up to since April of last year, movies we've watched, and where the show is going from here.

It's good to be back, y'all!

Be sure to subscribe on Itunes and suggest movie titles you'd like for us to watch!

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM grab our gnome sticks, hop on our BMX bikes and take a ride to the 1980's nostalgia fueled post-apocalyptic gorey wasteland that is 'Turbo Kid'!

Set in an alternate 1997, this 2015 Canadian/New Zealand coproduction was directed by François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell and stars Munro Chambers, Laurence Leboeuf, and Michael Ironside!

Before we jump into our audience selection, we briefly discuss 1980's nostalgia films like 'Kung Fury' and then delve deeply into our most ideal apocalypse scenerios to live through!

And, in a TMB first, we are joined by a live studio audience!  Unfortunately, said audience quickly turns on Jose and his bizarrely detailed philosophy on zombies!

Feb 18, 2016

This week we're talking Robert's movie selection: the 1996 Farrelly brothers directed gross-out buddy comedy 'Kingpin' a.k.a. the greatest movie about bowling ever made...that's not named 'The Big Lebowski'!

We also discuss our favorite Woody Harrelson performances, our top 3 Bill Murray performances, and most importantly we hype up the debut of our patented TMB Random Movie Selection Barrel!  That's right, we randomly select a listener's movie pick that will be our very next episode!

Does the drawing go off without a hitch, or do we 'Munson' it up?  Stay tuned to the end to find out!

Feb 4, 2016

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM pay tribute to the late, great David Bowie as we discuss the 1986 Jim Henson directed cult fantasy film 'Labyrinth' which also stars a very young Jennifer Connelly!

We talk rock stars turned actors, actors turned singers; plus things get a little contentious when we reveal our personal top 5 David Bowie songs!

From there things get awkward when Jose reveals his theory on what Prince's song 'Purple Rain' is really about.  Trust me, you have to hear it to believe it....and you'll never be the same.

Lastly, if you have a movie selection you'd like us to talk about, be sure to send it our way because next episode we are going to randomly draw an audience pick from our patented TMB movie selection barrel!

Jan 21, 2016

THE MILKSHAKE BOOM mustn't dwell. No, not today. Because today is Rex Manning Day!

Say No More Mon Amour, because we take the trip back to 1995 to revisit the coming of age cult film 'Empire Records' directed by Allan Moyle and starring Liv Tyler, Renee Zellweger, Ethan Embry, Robin Tunney, and Rory Cochrane!

Since working at a record store is an entry level job, we talk about our first job experiences, the differences between the theatrical version and 'remix fan edit' version of this movie, some of our personal experiences meeting famous musicians, and Christine fiercely defends the musical culture of Canada from the ignorant Americans on the podcast!

Damn the man! Save the Empire...or face the wrath of Canada!

Jan 7, 2016

THE MILKSHAKE BOOM ring in the new year the only way we know how: with Kurt Russell, rampant paranoia, and graphic ultra-violence!  If you haven't guessed it yet, Christine's pick this week is the 1982 sci-fi classic 'The Thing' from the horror master himself John Carpenter!

We talk about the harsh critical reaction the film received upon release and the incredibly stiff competition it faced during the summer of 1982, which included 'Poltergeist', 'Rocky III', 'Blade Runner', and 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial' just to name a few!

We also give our spoiler-free thoughts on 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', discuss the similarities between John Carpenter's 'The Thing' and Quentin Tarantino's latest effort 'The Hateful Eight'; plus Jose breaks out his conspiracy chalkboard to detail his convoluted theory on who actually is 'The Thing'!

So we suggest that you grab your flame-thrower...wait here a little while...and see what happens.

Dec 25, 2015

Ho-ho-ho! Merry Christmas! Just in time to stuff your stockings, THE MILKSHAKE BOOM bring you some serious Christmas cheer with 'Darkman'; a 1990 film directed by Sam Raimi and starring Liam Neeson and Frances McDormand!

We do our best to delve into this cult classic, but occasionally get distracted as Robert and Christine have a date to see 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and were not going to miss it!  But we do get into the logistics of how dark 'Darkman' really is, Danny Elfman's Batman-esque score, and how the plot completely hinges on a coffee stain!

Interesting fact: Did you know the original title of this movie was 'Face/On'?

Okay, not really, but if you found that joke even the least bit funny, that would be...just fine.

Dec 11, 2015

Aruba? Jamaica? Ooh,THE MILKSHAKE BOOM takes ya all the way down to Kokomo and then some with the Tom Cruise bartender flick 'Cocktail'!  We'll get there fast and then this 1988 film directed by Roger Donaldson will take it slow...real slow!  And it may not be somewhere you'll wanna go...

Robert, Christine, and Jose talk about their recent visit to the Other Worlds Austin Film Festival while Robin talks about a makeup effects class she took taught by Eric Zapata before we delve into some of our favorite Tom Cruise movies!

Is 'Cocktail' a goofy little 80's movie about arguably talented bartender buddies workin' hard and livin' the American dream, or is it the story of a dead-eyed, money obsessed sociopath whose best friend might just literally be the Devil himself?

Listen and decide for yourself!

Nov 27, 2015

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM is back in full effect and we play a little bit of catch up about our whereabouts and going ons before subjecting returning guest Erin to Jose's favorite Christian Slater movie!

That's right, a 'Hard Rain' is a-gonna fall as we flood your earballs about this 1998 disaster/heist film directed by Mikael Salomon and starring Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, Randy Quaid, and Minnie Driver!

Reminder: If you have a question, comment, or a movie you'd like us to discuss, please feel free to e-mail us at themilkshakeboom@gmail.com!

Bow down before the one you serve, THE MILKSHAKE BOOM are going to give you what you deserve: The 1991 film 'Prayer of the Roller Boys'! Directed by Rick King and starring Corey Haim and Patricia Arquette, this sci-fi dystopian nightmare will never let you look at roller blading the same way again. We welcome returning guest Dan Repp, events coordinator for the Other Worlds Austin Film Festival as we discuss our favorite sci-fi dystopian films, Roller Boys, and have an extended discussion on Star Wars.

Just in time for Halloween, THE MILKSHAKE BOOM bring you a monstrously spooky episode on 'Creature Features'!

We define what 'Creature Feature' means to us, talk about some of our favorites including the old-school Universal monster movies, delve into the tropes of the genre, and answer once and for all if zombie movies can be considered 'creature features'.

We also answer some listener questions, formally apologize to Christian Slater, and accidently invent the 'killer trucks on a raft' subgenre!
