Ho-ho-ho! Merry Christmas! Just in time to stuff your stockings, THE MILKSHAKE BOOM bring you some serious Christmas cheer with 'Darkman'; a 1990 film directed by Sam Raimi and starring Liam Neeson and Frances McDormand!

We do our best to delve into this cult classic, but occasionally get distracted as Robert and Christine have a date to see 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and were not going to miss it!  But we do get into the logistics of how dark 'Darkman' really is, Danny Elfman's Batman-esque score, and how the plot completely hinges on a coffee stain!

Interesting fact: Did you know the original title of this movie was 'Face/On'?

Okay, not really, but if you found that joke even the least bit funny, that would be...just fine.

Aruba? Jamaica? Ooh,THE MILKSHAKE BOOM takes ya all the way down to Kokomo and then some with the Tom Cruise bartender flick 'Cocktail'!  We'll get there fast and then this 1988 film directed by Roger Donaldson will take it slow...real slow!  And it may not be somewhere you'll wanna go...

Robert, Christine, and Jose talk about their recent visit to the Other Worlds Austin Film Festival while Robin talks about a makeup effects class she took taught by Eric Zapata before we delve into some of our favorite Tom Cruise movies!

Is 'Cocktail' a goofy little 80's movie about arguably talented bartender buddies workin' hard and livin' the American dream, or is it the story of a dead-eyed, money obsessed sociopath whose best friend might just literally be the Devil himself?

Listen and decide for yourself!

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM is back in full effect and we play a little bit of catch up about our whereabouts and going ons before subjecting returning guest Erin to Jose's favorite Christian Slater movie!

That's right, a 'Hard Rain' is a-gonna fall as we flood your earballs about this 1998 disaster/heist film directed by Mikael Salomon and starring Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, Randy Quaid, and Minnie Driver!

Reminder: If you have a question, comment, or a movie you'd like us to discuss, please feel free to e-mail us at themilkshakeboom@gmail.com!

Bow down before the one you serve, THE MILKSHAKE BOOM are going to give you what you deserve: The 1991 film 'Prayer of the Roller Boys'! Directed by Rick King and starring Corey Haim and Patricia Arquette, this sci-fi dystopian nightmare will never let you look at roller blading the same way again. We welcome returning guest Dan Repp, events coordinator for the Other Worlds Austin Film Festival as we discuss our favorite sci-fi dystopian films, Roller Boys, and have an extended discussion on Star Wars.

Just in time for Halloween, THE MILKSHAKE BOOM bring you a monstrously spooky episode on 'Creature Features'!

We define what 'Creature Feature' means to us, talk about some of our favorites including the old-school Universal monster movies, delve into the tropes of the genre, and answer once and for all if zombie movies can be considered 'creature features'.

We also answer some listener questions, formally apologize to Christian Slater, and accidently invent the 'killer trucks on a raft' subgenre!

Despite three of the four hosts being very ill, THE MILKSHAKE BOOM down a bottle of Nyquil and skip our vacations just so we could unpack this highly explosive action/sci-fi/buddy cop/drug dealing alien extravaganza directed by Craig R. Baxley!  This 1990 film, starring Dolph Lundgren and Brian Benben, might be better known to most of the world as 'Dark Angel', but we here in North America call it 'I Come In Peace'!

And you can forget about Chuck Norris facts, because we lay down the truth with some amazing Dolph Lundgren facts, like for example: Did you know that Dolph Lundgren dated Grace Jones? Google that shit!

Promise us that you'll listen to this episode and not just disappear for eight days.  A week we could understand, but eight days?! C'mon!

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM take our troubles to Madame Ruth (you know that gypsy with the gold-capped tooth?) and drink in 'Love Potion No. 9', a romantic comedy from 1992 written and directed by Dale Launer and starring Tate Donovan and Sandra Bullock!

And while we discuss topics like our favorite Sandra Bullock movies, we mainly focus on the incredibly dark under current that is this movie's premise! For the most part, this is just a fun little rom com, but then again...

Wow, who would have thought a catchy little tune for the 1950's would inspire such a perverse nightmare?

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM welcome our special guest (and Robin's sister) Erin to the podcast!  Erin is so 'very' with her movie selection: 'Heathers'!

This dark cult classic is directed by Michael Lehmann and stars Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, and Shannon Doherty!

We discuss our favorite Christian Slater/Winona Ryder films, dark comedies in general, and we reveal some of our high school horror stories!

We also delve into a Three Stooges social thought experiment, major plot points on forgery, Christine's hatred of 'Army of Darkness' and her theory that 'Heathers' is basically 'Fight Club'!

This very well could be our most random episode to date, and that's saying something!

FACT: This week's episode of THE MILKSHAKE BOOM features Chuck Norris portraying his greatest cinematic character: himself!

That's right, we're talking 1993's 'Sidekicks', a martial arts coming of age action film also starring teen heart throb Jonathan Brandis and directed by Chuck's younger brother (and 'Walker: Texas Ranger' collaborator) Aaron Norris!

We also discuss our favorite sidekicks and some of the best times a celebrity has played themselves in a movie or television show!

We also explore the dark, disturbed Freudian territory this supposedly PG rated children's movie traverses!

We also touch on found footage films, movies that scared us as adults, and remakes!

Also as a reminder, be sure to [PAUSE] and enjoy our website www.themilkshakeboom.com!  But don't [STOP] there, be sure to hit [PLAY] to enjoy one of our previous episodes!

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM's number has been 'randomly selected' and now we're forced to compete in a game to the death called 'Series 7: The Contenders'! This film, which some call a scathing indictment of reality television, is directed by Daniel Minahan and stars Brooke Smith, Glenn Fitzgerald, and Will Arnett!

We also offer up our opinions on the reality TV trend and discuss similar movies like 'Battle Royale', 'The Hungers Games', and 'The Running Man'!

Will we fall victim to a self-inflicted knife wound to the back or will love tear us apart...again?  Tune in to find out on this very special episode of: 'THE MILKSHAKE BOOM'!

Jul 23, 2015

This week, Christine makes her triumphant return to THE MILKSHAKE BOOM podcast just in time to discuss the 1990 Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan romantic comedy team up 'Joe Versus the Volcano' written and directed by John Patrick Shanley!

We also reveal our favorite movies with 'versus' in the title, jump into some of the best Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan films, and discover that adding Batman will always make things better!

Never before or since has a movie been so hopeful, whimsical and yet so full of death and genocide!  Also, Meg Ryan gives the performance of a lifetime that you'll have no response for!

Jul 9, 2015

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM get schooled at Ronald Reagan High by Corey Feldman and his Eradicators with 1991's 'Rock 'n' Roll Forever' directed by Deborah Brock!

So, is this movie a scathing inditement of Reaganism? Is it a love letter to Star Wars? Or is it just the bodacious fevered dream of a violent delinquent involving a drugged out hillbilly from hell?  You gotta listen to find out. (Spoiler: It's all of the above!)

And remember, there's nothing more punk rock than playing at the prom!

Jun 25, 2015

Hello kiddies! THE MILKSHAKE BOOM are back this week to rant and rave about the classic horror anthology series 'Tales From The Crypt'!

Jun 11, 2015

After viewing the recently released 'San Andreas', THE MILKSHAKE BOOM smelled what Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was cookin' and decided to skip talking about just one movie and focus on the disaster movie genre as a whole!

That's right, we're talking about films like 'The Core', '2012', 'The Towering Inferno', and of course, 'Armageddeon'!

We define what a 'disaster movie' is to us, go in depth about nearly every movie trope of the genre, and we give our Top 3 disaster movies of all time!  In fact, some of us get a little too excited, which meant we had to get creative about censoring spoilers.  Let's just say, you'll know it when you hear it.

Also, THE MILKSHAKE BOOM have an earth shaking special announcement at the top of the show that we won't spoil here!

Jun 4, 2015

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM wind our clocks back all the way to the year 2000 so we could discuss the M. Night Shyamalan superhero film 'Unbreakable' starring Bruce Willis, Robin Wright, and Samuel L. Jackson!  That's right, in a patented M. Night twist, this is a superhero movie! Mind blown yet? Well, wait 'till you see the ending!

So with that in mind, we also reveal our favorite superhero films, our favorite heroes/villains, some missed opportunites of the genre, and Robert goes on a mini-rant about why Superman is the greatest superhero ever!

May 29, 2015

Hey hey we're THE MILKSHAKE BOOM and we're just boomin' around to the 1968 trippy cult film 'Head', directed by Bob Rafelson and starring Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith a.k.a. The Monkees!  Yes...The Monkees!

We also talk about the 1960's, the history of The Monkees television show, and Jack Nicholson (who co-wrote this film by the way) and the birth of the counter culture movement!

This film is hands down the most divisive choice to date as Robert and Christine hail it as an absolute work of genius, while Robin and Jose loathed it. In fact, Jose may still be blind with irrational rage.  Just be prepared for some awkwardness is all I'm saying.

May 23, 2015

The machines have risen and in the process the bastards destroyed our scheduled episode, however THE MILKSHAKE BOOM never go down without a fight.  So we strike back hard with our first audience selection, 1986's 'Maximum Overdrive' starring Emilio Estevez!  This is the one and only film directed by famed horror author Stephen King! Did we mention that rock legends AC/DC provide the entire soundtrack?  'Who Made Who' indeed.

Our topics of discussion include our favorite Stephen King books and films based on his work, and Robert gets totally schooled on killer truck movies!

May 7, 2015

This week THE MILKSHAKE BOOM participate in an extended training montage until we finally square off against 'Best of the Best', a classic martial arts tournament action film from 1989 starring Eric Roberts, James Earl Jones, Christopher Penn, and Phillip Rhee!

Remember that a team is not a team if they don't give a damn about one another!  And be sure to stay until the very end as Christine presents her mind-blowing theory which very well may change how you think about the ending of this movie..FOREVER!

Apr 30, 2015

Dan is a Programmer and the Events Coordinator for the Other Worlds Austin Film Festival which is the one and only science fiction film festival in Austin, Texas!

Although he's the sci-fi guy, Dan decided to bring an Italian horror comedy to the dance.  Go figure. Regardless, Dan vigorously defends his movie choice which director Martin Scorsese has called one of the best Italian films of the 1990's.
